My name is Sharon Matthews and I’m from Charleston SC. I was raised on the east coast and moved to Hilton Head Island with my family in 1972.
Growing up near the ocean and spending most of our time outdoors boating, swimming, fishing and enjoying low country boils was a natural way of life for my family and me. Of course life would never have been the same without our beloved family pets.
My parents taught us to have compassion and respect toward animals and the environment and we always had pets—dogs, cats, horses, birds, and fish (to name a few), many were rescues, mostly dogs and cats that became a part of our family. So it comes natural for me to gravitate toward anything to do with nature and animals, but especially dogs.
When I’m around dogs I see things from their perspective instead of the other way around. Thanks to my loveable lab, Rocky who inspired me in 1999 to want to know more about them. Now dogs are my passion. I have gained a better understanding of canine behavior and how they communicate through body language and currently studying to receive my dog behaviorist and training certification.
Over the years I have helped family members and friends with their dogs, cats, and other pets that ultimately lead to starting my own business with my good friend Priscilla Drew (the compassionate vet tech) doing what we both love to do, hanging out with dogs and other pets everyday. It’s a great life! :)

Dogs are not our WHOLE life, but they make our lives whole.
— Roger Caras
“Dogs steal our hearts because they touch us in ways that nothing else does, and in places that nothing else can reach. They move us with their courage, loyalty, and resolve; they astound us with their athletic prowess and the awesome capabilities of their noses; they delight us with their playfulness and eagerness to please; they comfort us with their uncanny ability to peer into our souls.” Tom Davis …author of “Why Dogs Do That”
